Towns like Wellfleet, Truro and Eastham (site of the main 'Salt Ponds' Visitor Center) provide a lovely contrast to the hustle and bustle of Boston (or even Plymouth)! There are six swimming beaches in season (check website, but generally Mid June to Mid September) but use caution, if there is any sort of mishap, remember where you are even if you are saved! You are close to lifeguard aid, and to Provincetown.but far from Boston. Even the city of Provincetown (site of the smaller of two Visitor Centers), There are stairs to some beaches down slopes or through dunes. My favourite beaches? Marconi, Meadow, Nauset, Coast Guard, Race Point, Herring Cove, Newcomb Hollow. Wildlife includes seals, Dolphins, birds, whale pods and small 'critters' scurrying about.
